Learning Theorist Infographic

David Kolb
Experiential Learning Theory (ELT), developed by educational theorist David Kolb (b. 1939), is a foundational framework in education and psychology. It posits that learning is a dynamic, cyclical process driven by experience rather than passive memorization or rote learning. Knowledge emerges through the transformation of experiences via a continuous four-stage cycle.
This cycle repeats iteratively, emphasizing that learning is an ongoing process rooted in personal experience, reflection, thinking, and application.
